ABELDent Security Setup



Summary:

ABELDent has security to restrict selected printing, system maintenance, data modification and data deletion.
 
NOTE: this information refers only to ABELDent versions 300 to 520. ABELDent versions 600+ have entirely updated and enhanced security features.



Steps:

To Enable or Disable Security:
 
1. From the File menu, select Security Setup.
2. Enter your user ID and security password.

If this is the first time your password security has been accessed, than use the password given to you by either your ABELSoft trainer or ABELSoft telephone support representative.

3. Select the Security Enabled check box to ENABLE ~ your password security.

Clear the Security Enabled check box to DISABLE o your password security.

4. Click OK.
 

Security Permissions:

 
Each security role has built in permissions to access areas that are classed into one of the four main security areas.
 
Security Levels Permitted Role Permitted to access these areas:
 
Levels 1, 2, 3 System Owner Financial Security, Financial Privacy, Data Security
 
Levels 1, 2, 3 Office Manager Financial Security, Financial Privacy, Data Security
 
Level 2 (only) Senior Staff Financial Privacy
 
Level 2 (only) Responsible Staff Financial Privacy
 
No Access Regular User none

 
Security functions are classified as follows:

To assign a password to a specified security role:
 
1. From the File menu, select Security Setup.
2. Enter your user ID and security password.

  • If this is the first time your password security has been accessed, than use the password given to you by either your ABELSoft trainer or ABELSoft phone support. 

3. Select the Security Enabled check box ~ to enable your password security.
4. Select a security role from the Default Roles list box and click the Properties button.
5. DO NOT make any changes to the default information displayed in the Description field or the Role field.
6. Enter the password you wish to assign to this user Description/Role.
7. Enter the same password in Confirm Password text box.
8. Click OK.
9. Once you have completed assigning passwords to the primary security roles in your dental office, click OK to save your changes.

NOTE: You MUST setup security for System Owner and/or Office Manager. You do not have to setup security for the lower three levels. But not the reverse.

WARNING: Password security is a valuable resource for protecting patient records and office earnings. It is recommended that the system owner change the security passwords frequently.

If passwords are forgotten, it may be difficult and time consuming to regain access to parts of your ABELDent system. Record passwords and store the record in a safe place. The Owner or Office Manager must contact ABELSoft to obtain special password access back into the security area
