How to Add a Family Member
Summary:
Family members can be added to a patient’s record one at a time in the Family Members section of the Personal tab .If you assign a patient to another account holder, they are automatically added as a family member to that account holder’s record.
Steps:
■ To Add Family Members:
- Click the File menu and choose Open Patient.
- Search for and select the new patient for whom you are going to add family members.
The Personal Tab appears.
- In the Family Members section right-click and choose Add.
The Add New Patient dialog box appears.
Notice that some of the information is already completed based on the information you’ve entered for the original patient, e.g. Last Name.
- Type the family member’s First Name, Birthdate, Title, Jr/Sr and Gender. You can also change the Last Name, if necessary.
- Normally, the Householder field will default to the correct family member who has been designated as the householder and will show their address; however:
- If the family member you’re adding lives elsewhere, click the Householder check box to activate the address fields and modify the address shown.
- If the family member lives with another patient already in the system, click the button and search for and select the patient with whom they live.
- Type a Mailing Name and any Contact Information, if applicable.
- In the Status Information section, the patient is automatically shown as Active and the Patient Since date will default to the current accounting date.
- Click OK.
The individual's name now appears in the Family Members list.
- Repeat the above steps for each family member you want to add.
