How Do I Create a Chart for a Past Date?

Summary:

There may be times when you will want to create a chart for a previous date. For example, if you have certified a previous exam and left out a note, or if a doctor saw a patient after hours, and the ABELDent program was closed off for the day.

Keep in mind the following when changing to a past date:

  • You cannot add a procedure to a certified chart, but you can reopen a closed chart and add a procedure.
  • Although the "Chart Date" is the current accounting date, or a previous date, all financials and dates recorded in the chart are shown as today’s date.

Steps:

  1. Open the patient's chart tab.
  2. Right click on the icon and choose Create Past Chart. A calendar appears.
  3. Click on the date of the dental exam and then click OK.
  4. Use the < and > arrow  buttons to jump from month to month.
  5. Click the Today: link to return to today’s date.
  6. A new chart will open labeled with the Accounting Date you selected.
