Moving Kodak Images from One Patient File to Another

Summary:

When images are captured into an incorrect patient's file, the images need to be moved into the correct patients file location. The procedure below explains the steps for moving the image files.

To prevent this from happening: Check the patient's name on the title bar before initiating each capture. Avoid using Alt-tab or clicking on the task bar items to switch between Kodak and ABELDent. Use the Kodak or capture buttons to switch from ABELDent to Kodak.

Steps:

  1. Record the PID number, located on the title bar, of the patient that received the incorrect images eg 06543.
  2. Open ABELDent on your Server, and then open the patient file that is missing the images eg 01234.
  3. Select their Imaging Tab.
  4. Click on a Kodak capture button. (RVG,Pano,Intraoral,.)
  5. Once the Kodak software opens, click File and select Import Image File. This will open a Search window
  6. Navigate to the location of where ABELDent has been installed. (this may be C: drive), select My Computer\C\ABELDent\Data\Notes.
  7. Using the patient id number of the patient who incorrectly received the images eg 06543, recorded above, select the directory that corresponds to the first of five digits. Eg: For PID number 06543 select PN0. For 12345 select PN1.
  8. Select the directory that corresponds to the second and third digits of the patient id. For 06543 select 65.
  9. Select the directory that corresponds to the last two digits of the patient id. For 06543 select 43IMGS.
  10. Determine which images are incorrect by clicking once on the image file name eg xxx.rvg and viewing the image in the preview pane (the image files will have an extension of .rvg). Delete only the xxx.png files associated the xxx.rvg file (right click on the file and select delete or highlight the xxx.png with a single click then click File-Delete).
  11. Select the images (.rvg files) in this directory that do not belong by holding the CTRL key down and selecting each incorrect image, and then click on Open
  12. Once the images appear in the Kodak software, select/highlight each one separately by single clicking on the image and then click on File then click Save from the menu. Acknowledge the save message if it appears.
  13. Close the Kodak software using File-Exit.
  14. Open the patient file that was missing the images and confirm the images now appear in the Imaging Tab. You will only see these if they are the first images added to this patient file. Patients with existing images will not display the newly imported image until Show All Images is selected.
  15. From within ABELDent on your Server, open the patient file that received the images in error.
  16. Select the Imaging tab.
  17. Click on the Kodak button.
  18. Once the Kodak software appears click File, then Delete.
  19. Select the images that do not belong by clicking/highlighting each image and then click OK to delete them. (you can select them one at a time and delete or select all incorrect images and delete as a group)
  20. Close the Kodak software.
  21. Open the patient file that received the images in error and confirm the images no longer appear in the Imaging.
