How to Provide a Patient with their Financial History



Summary:

Use the Financial Status report to explain an account to a patient or to send a patient a copy of his/her financial history.


Steps:

1. Open the patient record.
2. Click Reports > Patient > Financial Status.
    The Patient Selection dialog appears with the patients' name automatically shown under Matching Patients. If the patient's record was not open you would have to search for them on the Patient Selection dialog.
3. Click on the patient's name and then click OK.

 

4. In the From and To Dates enter the earliest and latest dates you want to appear in the report. The From Date default to "00/???/00" while the To Date defaults to the current accounting date. If you accept these defaults, your printout will include the patient’s entire financial history.
5. Do one of the following in the Format text box:

  • Type O in the Format text box and then press TAB to print the Financial Status in Open Item View. This view groups the charge transactions with the associated payment transaction.
  • Type C in the Format text box and then press TAB to print the Financial Status in Chronological View. This view lists all financial transactions by date in the order in which they occurred.

  
6.    Do one of the following in the Type text box:

  • Type C in the Type text box and then press TAB  to print the Financial Status as Compact type. This type displays all transactions that take place on the same day, for the same patient, by the same provider as one transaction. See sample shown in Type O above.
  • Type D in the Type text box to print the Financial Status as Detailed type. This type which displays each procedure as a separate transaction.

7. Click OK.
8. Click Yes when prompted to print.
The Print dialog appears.
9. Click OK.
