Fee Propagator Utility



Summary:

Billing / Update utility for planned or predetermined items when fees change.
 
When users update their fee guides (usually annually), all Planned or Predetermined treatment items already in the system remain at the fees originally entered. Users must look up the new fees and update manually if they want to charge these new fees. This utility will update the fees to a current fee schedule. The Fee Propagator Utility will allow the user to update Planned or Predetermined items (or both), using the Master Fee Schedule or Special Schedule updates, and update by practice or by provider.
 
These fees should not be updated automatically each new year, since it is at the discretion of each practice whether they want to update some or all fees. Some offices may want to charge the fee that was originally quoted, especially if the plan was presented within the last few months.


Steps:

The Fee Propagator utility can be found in the ABELDent directory. ABELDent/FeePropogater.exe 

  1. Double click on FeePropogater.exe
  2. A warning dialog will open. It will advise the user that this utility will allow them to update their fees for planned and predetermined treatments after a fee guide increase. The fee increase may be related to a Master Fee Schedule update or a Special Schedule update. Estimated insurance amounts will not be recalculated by the utility. It will also advise the user that this utility is not reversible.
  3. Click Yes. The Fee Propagator dialog will open.
  4. In the Affected Items section choose Predetermined, Treatment Plan or Both
  5. In the Fee Guide section, select the Master Fee Schedule or Special schedule. If the Special Schedule is selected, the user must also select the appropriate Special Schedule name.
  6. In the Affected Providers section, select the All Providers, or an individual provider
  7. Click Start
  8. A warning dialog will open. It will advise the user that the utility will now launch a background task to complete the requested operations. You will be notified upon completion. Do you want to continue? Click Yes
  9. When the utility has completed, a Background Task Complete! dialogue will open. The user will click OK to close it.

 Note: This utility will update fees in Planned and Predetermined services in both Treatment and Charting
