How To Record a Treatment, Take a Payment and Print a Receipt 



Summary:

Available in ABELDent  SQL Version 12.0 or later

Use the Add Treatment window to enter the procedures performed on a patient during a Chart exam and then the Pay button to take the payment.



Steps:

1. In Scheduler, click on the patient appointment for whom you are entering treatment.
2. Click  on the toolbar.
The Add Treatment window appears.

3. Click Add beside the Treatment on Current Date table.
A new blank procedure line is displayed.

4. Type the procedure code, if known, or click the down-arrow in the Code field and select one from the list.:

5. If a Tooth or Surface number is required for the procedure you’ve chosen, these two fields will be highlighted with a red border. Type the Tooth number or Surface, or click the down-arrow to select one from the list.

6.    Press Enter to add another procedure. If not, click Save.

  • The Charge column will display the scheduled fee for the Code you selected.
  • The Pat. Pays column shows the amount the patient is responsible for paying 
  • The Ins. Est. column shows the estimated amount the Insurance carrier is responsible for paying (assuming the patient has insurance coverage). 
  • If the procedure requires a lab code it will be automatically entered for you on a separate line. Enter the tooth or surface, if necessary, and the amount of the lab fee. 

   The treatment will now be automatically:

  • Painted on the Odontogram (if the procedure code you added is applicable to a tooth or surface).
  • Entered on the Treatment tab and in the Transaction section of the Chart Tab.
  • Added as a charge on the patient's Financials tab as shown in the example below.

7.    To apply the patient’s payment, click Pay.

The Enter Payment window appears.

 

8.    Notice that the amount of today's treatment is shown on the Account Balance Today tile, the Payment Amount field and in the Received column.

9.  Click OK to apply the payment for the full amount and return to Scheduler.  The payment will be recorded on the patient's Financial tab as shown below.


10.  Click  on the toolbar to display the Print Forms/Submit Claims menu.

12.  Double-click Print Receipt.
The Receipt Printing dialog appears.

13.  Click OK  to print or Preview to display the receipt on screen.
