How to Capture a Patient's Portrait



Summary: 

You can ask patients' for a photo image file and then import it into ABELDent or, if you have a third-party video capture source such as a webcam, you can take a photo of them when they're in the office.

Either way, once the photo is in ABELDent it will appear on the Daily Appointment list to help you identify them when they arrive for their appointment. 



Steps:

Import a Patient's Portrait:

1. Open the patient’s record and click the Imaging tab.
2. Select the Import   icon.

    The Select Images To Import window appears.
 
 
3. Navigate to and select the patient image file from the appropriate folder. Selected images must be in .dib, tif, .bmp, or .jpeg format.
4. Click the Open button.
    The image appears in the selected cell.
5. Right-click and choose Set Attributes.
6. In the Type field, select Portrait.
7. The patient's photo will now appear beside their appointment in the Daily Appointment List.

Capture a Patient's Portrait:

  1. Open the patient’s record and click the Imaging tab.
  2. Click the     icon.
The Video Capture window appears.
 
  1. Make sure you have selected your video source and capture card.  
  1. Click the Capture button when you are ready to take the picture.
    The captured image appears.
  2. Click Save to save the image.
  3. Right-click and choose Set Attributes.
  4. In the Type field, select Portrait.
