Can I use an Intraoral Camera in ABELDent?
Summary:
ABELDent allows the use of an Intraoral camera to capture images which may be stored in the Image tab of a Patient's file.
More Information:
Most intraoral cameras will simply allow for 'plug and play' - this means once you plug in the device, your computer will auto-detect the new hardware and install it accordingly. Any issues with installation of an intraoral camera or other device may be referred to your system technician for handling.
Once the intraoral camera is installed, no additional configuration is required. You may go to a patient's file in ABELDent, open the Image tab and capture images with the Video Capture icon found on the left side of top toolbar. In some cases, you may need to use the 'scan' button for certain intraoral cameras which are recognized as a Twain device.
References:
ABELDent recommends the use of a USB camera. Most modern cameras plug into a USB port and do not required Video capture cards.
Old cameras with only an RCA or S-Video connector typically connect to a video capture card.
