Information Regarding Contact and Appointment Flags

Explanation:

CONTACT FLAGS:

This flag is typically used to categorize patient types. Some examples are listed below however, you can setup your own categories as required.

P - Perio Patient

Y - Short Notice Patient (the Short Notice Contact List requires a Y be set for short notice patients in this field.

O - Ortho Patient

I - Implant Patient

D - Denture Patient

E - Edentulous Patient

The contact flag can be used in the Contact Manager and Active Contact List Report to narrow down your search results. For example, if you have flagged all perio patients with a contact flag of "P", it is very easy to find only perio patients who are due for recall appointments by adding contact flag "P" into the search criteria.

The contact flag is defined in the patient's Health tab. Click on the drop-down arrow to see contact flags already defined. To define additional contact flags, click the file update button, click Add Message, enter a one character contact flag and click OK.  Leave the alias field blank and enter an appropriate description into the Message field, click OK.  The contact flag displays in the patient's Appointment tab, Treatment tab and in the Contact Manager.

APPOINTMENT FLAGS:

This flag is typically used to define an alert which you would want to be aware of when scheduling a patient appointment.  The appointment flag will automatically display when you attempt to schedule an appointment for the patient.  Some examples are listed below however, you can setup your own flags as required.

P - Premedication Required (see also below)

ADDITIONAL FLAGS - Medical Condition, Pre-medicated, Important Notes

There are also separate flags which can be checked to indicate that the patient has a medical condition or requires pre-medication prior to treatment.  These flags are also defined in the patient's Health tab.  The Pre-Medicated flag is displayed in the patient's Appointment tab and Appointment Edit window.  The Medical Condition flag is displayed in the patient's Appointment tab, Treatment tab, Appointment edit window and in the Contact Manager. The Active Contact List will print "Medical Warning - See Chart" if the patient has the Medical Condition flag set on.
