How to Update the EDI information for an Insurance Carrier

Summary:

From time to time, CDAnet may change the EDI details for existing insurance carriers. These changes are usually communicated by CDAnet directly to the dental office. Changes will need to be reflected in the ABELDent program accordingly.

Steps:

Most changes will be made in the Insurance Carrier File Update and CDAnet 4 Setup windows in ABELDent. To access these areas:

1. Click on File
2. Click on Update
3. Click on Insurance
4. Click on Carriers
5. Click the insurance carrier to which changes must be made
6. Click on the Edit Carrier button

CDAnet information changes:
  • update the EDI Carrier ID field with the BIN number of the insurer
  • update the EDI Network to select the correct Network (ie ICA-iTrans for iTrans users; SHN-BCE Emergis or ACE-NDC Health for modem users)
  • if the CDAnet version has changed from 2 to 4, update the CDAnet version field; once changed to CDAnet version 4, you will see a new button "CDAnet4 setup" which will give you access to the Supported Transactions window

NOTE:  the example below is the setup for Sun Life for modem users; for Itrans users, the EDI Network should be set to ICA-iTrans (effective July 1/14):

If the Supported Transactions has changed:

  • Click the CDAnet4 Setup button in the Insurance Carrier File Update window
  • Update the Supported Transactions accordingly:

Note: The example below is showing the CDAnet 4 Setup Supported Transactions for Sun Life (effective July 1/14):

It is imperative that the Transaction Types Supported for a particular Insurance Carrier are setup according to the CDAnet Supported Transaction document which you may find on the CDAnet website.  Incorrectly selecting or deselecting of supported transaction types may result in the failure of EDI claim submissions for the insurance carrier with the incorrect setup.
