Summary:
Solutions for “Could not find mail client” error while using email features in ABELDent on a 32-bit or 64-bit machine using 32-bit Outlook.

NOTE: ABELDent does not currently support 64-bit versions of Outlook and Office 365. Only 32-bit versions are supported at this time.

To fix the issue, users are required to update their Windows Registry through the Registry Editor:

Steps:

  1. Click the Windows Button on the Menu Bar (or use the Windows key on your keyboard) to bring up the Start Menu
  2. Type “Registry Editor”
  3. Select Registry Editor app.

For 32-bit Systems:

  1. Navigate to: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem” by either navigating directly from the left pane or pasting the pathway into the top bar
  2. Right Click and Add a New String Value
  3. Rename the Value to “MAPI”
  4. Double-click MAPI and set the Value data input to “1
  5. Click OK
  6. Exit out of the Registry Editor

Changes may not take effect until user’s computer is restarted.

For 64-bit Systems:

  1. Navigate to: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem” by either navigating directly from the left pane or pasting the pathway into the top bar
  2. Right Click and Add a New String Value
  3. Rename the Value to “MAPI”
  4. Double-click MAPI and set the Value data input to “1
  5. Click OK
  6. Exit out of the Registry Editor

Changes may not take effect until user’s computer is restarted.
