Summary:
Solutions for “Could not find mail client” error while using email features in ABELDent on a 32-bit or 64-bit machine using 32-bit Outlook.
NOTE: ABELDent does not currently support 64-bit versions of Outlook and Office 365. Only 32-bit versions are supported at this time.
To fix the issue, users are required to update their Windows Registry through the Registry Editor:
Steps:
- Click the Windows Button on the Menu Bar (or use the Windows key on your keyboard) to bring up the Start Menu
- Type “Registry Editor”
- Select Registry Editor app.
For 32-bit Systems:
- Navigate to: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem” by either navigating directly from the left pane or pasting the pathway into the top bar
- Right Click and Add a New String Value
- Rename the Value to “MAPI”
- Double-click MAPI and set the Value data input to “1”
- Click OK
- Exit out of the Registry Editor
Changes may not take effect until user’s computer is restarted.
For 64-bit Systems:
- Navigate to: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem” by either navigating directly from the left pane or pasting the pathway into the top bar
- Right Click and Add a New String Value
- Rename the Value to “MAPI”
- Double-click MAPI and set the Value data input to “1”
- Click OK
- Exit out of the Registry Editor
Changes may not take effect until user’s computer is restarted.
