Explanation
When upgrading from version 9 or 11 to version 12, the new default Patterson bridge is no longer working correctly with previously bridged patients. The problem is that it does not recognize the patient’s date of birth and will prompt the user to create a new patient file in Patterson.

Cause
Past ABELDent bridges to Patterson Imaging under certain circumstances passed Date of Birth date information incorrectly to Patterson. If the day of the birthdate is 1-12, then ABEL incorrectly passed to Patterson the day as a month value and the month as a day value thereby switching the day and month information creating an incorrect Date of Birth in Patterson.

Example:
In ABELDent: March 4, 1947
In Patterson: April 3, 1947
However, if the day of the birthdate is 13-31, then ABEL passed the day and month values correctly to Patterson and the date of birth information then matches between ABELDent and Patterson.

Solution

  1. Use /Activate the modified imaging bridge Patterson (DDMMYY) if the customer was previously bridging from ABELDent to Patterson from an earlier ABELDent version (ver 9 or 11). This is actually the original bridge used in ABELDent version 9 now re-named.
  2. No need to change computer system regional settings, language or date settings.
  3. When using the Patterson(DDMMYY) bridge, if it finds a patient where the Date of Birth has been modified in Patterson and does not match what it thinks is correct, a Patterson message will appear notifying of the mismatch.
  4. Answer the questions as follows to correct the problem in the patient record. If these steps are followed, the message will not appear again for this patient when using the bridge.
  5. Found patient but Date of Birth does not match. Do you want to create a new patient file. No.
  6. Select the patient to open. Would you like to change the date to xx.xx.xxxx? Yes.
